Choose an identifier with your vehicle and destination in mind.
The green flash
GOV.UK permits a green flash for a zero-emission vehicle. It is an optional identification feature, not a substitute for the ordinary plate display requirements.

Flags and identifiers
Official guidance lists permitted national flags and identifiers. The flag goes above its identifier on the left, and the permitted width is limited. Decorative badges need a separate intended-use check.
Driving abroad
A UK identifier with the Union flag generally avoids a separate UK sticker, but Spain, Cyprus and Malta require the sticker regardless. Ireland does not require it. Other plate identifiers may require a sticker; use the destination-specific official guidance and do not put the sticker on the plate.

Before selecting an extra
- Confirm the vehicle’s eligibility for an EV flash.
- Decide whether you need an identifier for travel.
- Check that the chosen stock has sufficient room.
- Review how the feature appears on both plates.
