Cleaning, care & damage checks

Get the details right

Keep the finish clean and the registration clearly visible.

A gentle routine

Rinse away loose dirt before wiping. Use a soft clean cloth and a mild cleaner suitable for the plate materials, then rinse and dry gently. Follow any instructions supplied with your exact construction.

Avoid unnecessary damage

  • Do not use abrasive pads on the face or letters.
  • Avoid aggressive solvents and test any cleaner for compatibility.
  • Do not lever raised characters or pick at bonded layers.
  • Keep high-pressure cleaning away from edges and fixings unless the product instructions allow it.

Look beyond the shine

Check for cracks, lifting letters, damaged reflective backing and loose mounting. Also look for dirt or accessories that make the registration harder to read. Contact us if the construction appears to be separating.

If a problem develops

  1. Record the order reference.
  2. Take clear photographs of the affected area and the overall plate.
  3. Describe when you first noticed it and the fitting method used.
  4. Ask the team for the applicable remedy before modifying the plate.

Warranty terms depend on the published product and store policy. This care guide does not create an additional warranty or limit your rights.

Six-month warranty support

PLATESPEC offers a six-month warranty. Keep the order reference and contact us with the issue and photographs where appropriate. Full coverage and claim terms will be supplied before live ordering opens.
